HtmlSearch Documentation: Details panel
This screen is only available in the Pro version.
Depending on your particular configuration, this screen may not be available.
The Details panel allows you to view how the search performs.
It shows three lists:
- Pages searched: these are all the pages that could be
accessed and that were not skipped because of settings made through the
Advanced panel. The found pages listed in the
Result panel are a subset of the pages listed here.
- Pages skipped: these are all the pages that could be
accessed but that were skipped because of the settings made in the
The reason for skipping the page is indicated in the list box.
- Errors: these are all the pages that could not be
The cause of the error is indicated in the list box. The most common errors are due to
invalid URLs or authorization denials because of browser security settings or
CLASSPATH setting. You may also see errors if a page
cannot be reached. When HtmlSearch cannot reach a page, it may assume that it is
a directory, and it will try to search for
a file 'index.html' or 'index.htm' in that directory; this will obviously provoke another error
message if the URL was an invalid one to start with.
The Always show last line
checkbox directs the program to always show the last page listed
in the list box, thus scrolling automatically as the search progresses.
If you uncheck this checkbox, pages are added to the
list box as the search progresses, but the display stays where you set it.
For each of the pages shown in these lists,
you can use the Display, List links or
View source buttons as described in the Results panel.
